Off!
The NC General Assembly appropriated $6.8 million dollars to restore this historic
lodge. Mattamuskeet Lodge Society has some amazing plans to repurpose this
historic treasure. Interestingly enough, the Mattamuskeet Goose Club’s property
boarded this beautiful landmark. This new endeavor will once again shine the
light on what we know to be a NC treasure. Prior to serving as a community lodge
and meeting place, it was developed as the world’s largest pump station in the
early 1900’s. Our Mattamuskeet Goose Club shared some incredible history as
the original 22 members hunted and fished in the shadow of the grand old lady!
