Neal Hawkins,at the age of twenty-six, in the 1920’s, was one of the first to enter the paving and grading
industry across multiple states. Hawkins, a Gastonia native, recognized the vital importance
that roads played to economic development and moving products across the country. For 50
years, Neal Hawkins was a national leader in highway construction and paving.
