W.A. Julian: For years, W. A. Julian was one of the leading cotton brokers in the country. He was an active
member of the Southern Combed Yarn Spinners association and traveled with fellow member
Pet Sumner to Europe and Egypt to secure cotton imports for local textile fi rms. Julian was the
secretary of the hunt club, and it was at his insistence the Club limit membership and adopt
by-laws which were updated over the history of the club.
